Privacy Policy

EatNow ("we", "us") is a food discovery app and website made by Virgin Gates, Cairo, Egypt. This policy explains what EatNow collects, why, how long we keep it, who we share it with and the choices you have. The short version: an account is optional (you only need one to review places or post videos), EatNow sells no data, shows no ads and does not track you across other apps or websites.
What we collect
- A random device ID. When you first open EatNow, the app makes a random identifier and keeps it on your phone. It is not linked to your name, phone number, email or Apple ID. We use it to remember your saved dishes, your area and your taste so your feed improves.
- Your location. If you allow location access, your phone sends its coordinates to our server to find the nearest delivery area and the restaurants that deliver to you, and refreshes them when you move. We keep your current area and your last position for the feed; we do not keep a location history. You can also pick a spot on the map instead.
- How you use the feed. Which videos you watch (and for how long), like, save, share, skip or tap to order, linked to the random device ID. We use this only to rank your feed and to measure which dishes and places are trending.
- What you search for. Your search text is sent to our server and processed by an AI model to understand the dish or place you mean. It is not stored with your device ID.
- If you sign in with Apple (optional). To review places and post, you sign in with Apple. We receive a stable Apple user ID, plus the name and email you choose to share (Apple can hide your real email behind a private relay address). Your name and what you post are public on EatNow; your email is never shown.
- Videos, photos and voice you post (optional). When you post a review, we store the video or photos, the cover image and any voice-over on our servers (Cloudflare) and show them publicly in EatNow with your name, the place, what you had and your verdict. To post, EatNow asks for the camera and microphone (to film or record a voice note) or your photo library (to pick a video or photos); it only reads what you choose. An AI model looks at the cover and a few frames before the post shows, to suggest the dish and captions, to check it against our community rules and, if you ask for the "food only" check, to tell you whether a face, hands or your home appear so you can crop them out. The extra frames used for that check are deleted within 7 days. Delete a post any time from your page; deleting your account deletes all of them.
- The narrator's voice. If you ask EatNow to write and voice a review, the script (the place, what you tapped and any note you typed) is sent to a text-to-speech service (Google's Gemini API, or another provider listed below) to produce the voice, and the audio is stored with your post. Your own recorded voice notes are stored the same way. Nothing else about you is sent.
- Where you post from. When you post with location on, your phone sends its position once so we can tell if you were at the place (a "Verified visit") and suggest the place you are at. We keep that position with the post to verify it and never show it.
- Your reviews. The stars, the dish you had and what you write about a place. Reviews are public. Before one shows, an AI moderator checks it against our community rules, and other people can report it.
- Crash and error reports. If the app crashes or hits an error, it sends us a technical report: the kind of error, the part of the app that failed, your iPhone model and iOS version, and the app's version. These reports contain no name, email, location or content of yours. We use them only to fix bugs.
- Reports and messages. If you report a video or a review, or contact support, we keep what you send so we can act on it.
What we don't collect
Unless you sign in with Apple: no account, name or email. Never: your phone number, contacts, payment details, advertising identifier or a location history. EatNow does not include advertising or third-party analytics SDKs.
Creators' videos and ordering
Creators' videos play inside EatNow through the official TikTok and Instagram embedded players. Those players are run by TikTok and Meta and may collect data under their own privacy policies. When you tap to order, EatNow opens talabat (or another delivery service) and your order happens there, under that service's privacy policy. EatNow never sees your order or payment.
How we use AI and other providers
We use AI models to understand searches, to read public video captions and frames so we know which dish and place a video is about, to check reviews and posts against our community rules before they show, and to write and voice the narrator's reviews. The models run on Cloudflare Workers AI and, for voices and some checks, on Google (Gemini API), Microsoft (Azure Speech), OpenAI or ElevenLabs, depending on what is enabled. We send only the text or image needed for the task, never your name, email or location, and we do not use your data to train models.
Our servers and storage run on Cloudflare. Restaurant facts (menus, prices, ratings, locations) come from public sources such as talabat and Google Maps. EatNow also publishes its own content (deals, stories, its own videos) on its Instagram, Facebook and TikTok accounts through Meta's and TikTok's platforms; that involves no personal data of EatNow users. If one of your public EatNow posts is featured there, it is credited to your EatNow name and you can ask us to take it down at any time.
Where data is kept and for how long
Our servers run on Cloudflare. Activity linked to your device ID is kept for up to 12 months, then deleted. Crash reports are kept for 90 days. Saved dishes are kept until you remove them. Your account, reviews, posts, lists and Bites are kept until you delete them. Backups are cleared within 30 days of a deletion.
Bites, missions and restaurants
Bites are points for adding to EatNow; they have no cash value. When you complete a restaurant's mission, that restaurant learns which of your reviews or posts completed it (they are public anyway), and you see the reward code they set. Restaurants that claim their page see totals (views, reviews, followers, saves) and can reply publicly to reviews; they never get your email or location.
Your choices
- Turn location off any time in iOS Settings and pick your area by hand instead.
- In the app, Settings → Delete my data deletes your saves and activity from our servers and resets your device ID.
- Signed in, Settings → Delete account deletes your account and everything you posted at once. You can also delete a single review or post from its page.
- Hide any creator from the "⋯" menu on a video, and block any member from the "⋯" menu on their review.
Deleting your data
You can delete everything EatNow holds about you yourself, without asking us: in the app, open Settings and tap Delete account (signed in) or Delete my data. Your account, reviews, posts, lists, Bites and activity are deleted at once and backups are cleared within 30 days. If you can't use the app, send the request through our support page or email ahmed@investaycapital.com from the email on your account; we confirm the deletion within 30 days. Step-by-step instructions: eatnow data deletion.
Children
EatNow is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for important changes, say so in the app. Questions or requests about your data: the support page, or Virgin Gates, Cairo, Egypt, ahmed@investaycapital.com.
